Urgently required – Deputy Plant Head – Leading Japanese Based MNC – Sri city (TADA location) – Near Chennai

Experience – 12 To 15 Years in (Automotive or Consumer / Wiring Harness Manufacturing)

 We are looking for an experienced Deputy Plant Head to lead day-to-day plant operations, drive production, quality, safety, and cost targets for a wiring harness manufacturing facility. This role will be instrumental in ensuring high standards of production, quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery, while supporting the Plant Head in overall plant management.

 Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

•                    Overall responsibility for production planning & execution to meet monthly/weekly/daily targets for cutting, crimping, assembly, testing • Manage plant manpower: staffing, training, performance management, shift planning and labour relations.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure adherence to OEM and industry quality standards including IATF 16949

• Implement and maintain quality systems (PPAP, FMEA, SPC), ensure customer specs and on-time delivery.

• Lead continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen, SMED), productivity, yield and cost-reduction projects.

•                    Coordinate audits (customer, ISO/TS/IATF) and drive corrective/preventive actions through root cause analysis (8D, Why-Why) • Maintain high First Pass Yield (FPY)

Process & Engineering

• Support new product introduction (NPI) and SOP readiness

• Improve processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives

Maintenance & Equipment

• Ensure equipment availability: Preventive maintenance program, breakdown response, spare parts planning.

• Supplier/ vendor coordination for tooling, gages, fixtures and consumables.

• Improve machine uptime and OEE

Cost Optimization

• Manage inventory levels (WIP, FG, critical parts) and material flow (FIFO/ERP controls).

• Prepare and control plant budget, CAPEX proposals and OEE/performance reporting.

• Drive cost reduction initiatives and minimize scrap/wastage

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop production teams

• Liaise with Factory Manager on strategy, major escalations, and monthly performance reviews.

• Foster a high-performance and disciplined work culture

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to EHS standards

•                    Drive safety, housekeeping (5S), and compliance with local statutory requirements.
